Call for Abstracts
The HIMAA 2024 Conference Submission Portal is now closed. Submitters will be notified on the outcome of their submission by the end of April, 2024.
An additional conference discount will be available for conference presenters who are HIMAA members and who have not presented at a HIMAA conference in the past 3 years.
The conference theme is: Evolving, Innovating and Empowering.
The Organising Committee is excited to receive submissions that respond to one of the following sub-themes:
Clinical Documentation, Health Classification and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs)
Best practice, program development and evaluation, quality measures, technology in such areas as Aged Care, Mental Health, acute, non-acute, and non-admitted/community services.Health Data Construction, Quality and Integrity, Standards, Modelling and Analytics
Health data standards, data quality, clinical data management, data analytics, business intelligence, applications of health data.
Health Information for Patient Safety and Quality of Care
Patient outcomes, how health information is used and managed in emergency/crisis contexts and the lessons learned from this experience.
Health Information Governance and Digital Health Practices
Information privacy, the inception of new technologies and system operations, data governance, cybersecurity risks, the application of AI in health information management/clinical coding.
Health Information Management for the Continuum of Care Extending Beyond a Single Episode of Care
Health data ecosystem, internal/external stakeholder relationships, multi-disciplinary approaches.Health Information Management for Marginalised Groups of the Health Population

Presentation Styles
The following presentation formats will be available:
Research Paper (15 minute presentation plus 5 minutes for questions)
No more than 3,000 words (Incl. Headings, Introduction, Aim, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion).
Research Abstract (10 minute presentation plus 5 minutes for questions)
No more than 650 words.
Allow for 5 minutes of questions and answers.
Research Poster
No more than 250 words.
Professional Practice Abstract (10 minute presentation plus 5 minutes for questions)
No more than 650 words.
Professional Practice Poster
No more than 250 words.
Workshop Abstract (90 minute duration)
Author and affiliations are to be provided through the submission portal. Your paper must remain unidentifiable to ensure that your work is assessed entirely on its merit through the peer-review process. The names and affiliations of authors will be added to the paper if it is accepted. Any queries about presentations or the submission process can be directed to HIMAA@conferencenational.com.au

Presenter Registration
If your submission is accepted for presentation, you must register for the conference.
First time presenters are warmly encouraged to submit, and guidance on preparation may be provided to these presenters on request and at the discretion of the Organising Committee.
